Namildae Beach

Namildae Beach is 700m long and 500m wide sand beach 2km apart from the southeast of Sacheon. On the halfmoon shaped beach stand a cliff of rock formations, and on the seat coast is an Elephant Rock. The name Namildae dated back to the Silla Dyansty, when a great scholar choe Chiwon was impressed by the clean and blue sea, white sand beach, and the surrounding landscape, and called this place "Mamildae", meaning the first scenic view in Namhae.
The forest and rock formations battered by the sea wind and waves are impressing. The sand is fine and soft. The water is clean. The sand beach(20,000pyeong) makes a slow slope surrounded by low hills on its three sides.
Namildae Beach, with a nickname 'Moraesil', has been popular for hot sand bath among women nearby. Summer vacation visitors are increasing each year.
There are many fishing spots around for rock trouts and rock fish. Shells and fine sands are mixed in the beach and the water is shallow(5¡Æ) far to 40m. Therefore, this is one of the best beach resort in Gyeongnam to take children. Walking 15 minutes to the east coast leads to the Elephant Rock and Turtle Rock standing in good harmony with surrounding nature. It shows the best scene in a low tide when the waves coming in and out. Following the western coast reaches Namil Bridge, a suspended bridge going to Morye Village. Walking 5 more minutes to the left gets to the observatory looking down the secret scene of Hylleo Maritime National Park. The observatory is situated in a thick pine tree forest, which is well established for a family resort. Nearby coasts and breakwaters are loved as a sea fishing spot.
From the observatory, one can see Mt. Wayrongsan(798m) standing like a guardian, the scenery of fishers working on their nets, and small and big ships horning coming in and out of the bay as well as Hallyeo Maritime National Park at a glance.
