Sangju Beach

Sangju Beach is one of the best place where people can enjoy climbing and fishing together as it is near Mt. Geumsan. As waves are calm and 100-year-old sea pine trees grow thick along the sea shore, this is known one of the best beaches in Korean with more than a million visitors each year. The sands of Sangju Beach is as soft and silver power and is comparable with those of Jumunjin Beach in Gangneung.
The beach is safe for children to play as the bottom under the sea is shallow in a slow slope. As there is no pollution source nearby, the water is so clean that you can even count the sands under the sea. On the big sand beach(48,000pyeong) and the pine tree forest(2,700pyeong), visitors enjoy cool wind as well as sea bathing. With 23?~25? water temperature and 0.4m~0.5m water depth, the beach is the best sea bathing resort. Namu-seom(plant island) and Dol-seom(rock island) stand protecting the coast against the rough waves. These islands are known as fishing spots.
Meongge(sea squirt) Festival has been held in the pine tree forest since 1999. There are more events to take unforgettable memories such as food festival, paragliding competition, marine performance, farm music, Samulnori, traditional sea-saw, traditional stick games, underwater photo exhibit, and tourist song competition. Fresh sea squirts picked from the clean sea are good for recovering the lost appetite. A one-day tour course can cover Boriam and Geunsan nearby, which is one of the three Buddhist seminaries in Korea and known for its 38 scenic views respectively. Sunrise view among the 38 views is appreciated from Snagju Beach. The beach is a all-weather tourist attraction, as a training camp of athletic players in winter and for a membership training by college students and lovers in spring and fall.
