Floating on the sea of Gujora, Oedo Island consists of Main Island, East Island 3m away, and 10 small rock islands. There is a saying that in the old days a woman saw that Oedo Island(corresponding to the Man Island near Damado Island, Japan) is floating toward Naedo(corresponding to the Man Island near Gujora), and yelled "An island is floating toward us", and then the island stopped at the place. Oedo Island is a very resourceful island with proper environment and abundant water to live on. In the center of the island is a mineral water well known as 'Akeo Yaksu' meaning an alligator mineral water.
The island is called 'The Paradise of Korea' with a scenic camellia forest(44,000 pyeong) and other rare subtropical plants such as cacti, coconut palms, sunshines, eucalyptus, agaves and 3,000 more kinds. The island is equipped with an observatory, a sculpture park, an outdoor music hall, a lounge on its 0.051km2 and 2.3km long coast. On the east end of the island are found the footprints of dinosaurs same as those found in the Stratum of the Cretaceous period, Mesozonic era. This proves that there lived many dinosaurs around this area at that time.

The legend have been passed down about Dinosaur Cave and Dinosaur Rock here; that a dinosaur incarnated into a dragon and flew up to the sky and that a greedy dinosaur couldn't fly up to the sky and changed into a rock instead respectively. Light-gray sandstone footprints of carnivores and herbivores dinosaurs are found; 23 fossils at the fishing place on the East Island and 117 fossils on the south Stone Island. Oedo Island was at first found by Lee Chang Ho in 1969, who came to this island to escape from the wind and waves. Touched with this island, he stayed here and failed to make a tangerine farm and then a pig livestock and finally planned a botanical garden. Without devastating virgin forest, he planted a thousand of rare subtropical plants such as cacti, coconut palms, sunshines, eucalyptus, and agaves as well as native camellias on its 13,000pyeong botanical garden. Therefore, it looks like an exotic marine botanical garden moved from a certain coast of the Mediterranean Sea.
