Hansando Jeseungdang

In August ,1593 when Admiral Yi was appointed as head admiral of 3 provinces and built the headquarter on Hansando, he established Unjudang to held strategic meeting with his chief staff here in today's Jeseungdang area. Unjudang was ruined in the war of Jeongyujeran and head admiral Jogyeong built a memorial monument and a shrine here and named it Jeseungdang. The plaque hanging on Jeseungdang was written by Jogyeong.
The remaining buildings like Jeseungdang, Chungmusa, Hansanjeong and suru were rebuilt in 1976. This is the historical site popular to students as a graduation trip destination.

Geochang Geumwonsan Natural Resort Forest

Located on the eastern slope of Geumwonsan(1352m), this natual resort forest has Mt. Namdeokyusan on the back. It makes the border with Buksang-myeon, Geochang-gun on the northwest and is adjacent to Mt. Gibaeksan(1330m) and Mt. Judusan(942m) on the southeast.
Along two valleys on both sides of visitor's Information Center there are condominium-type mountain tents(12rooms), forest training halls which can hold 60-80 young students (3 rooms), log cabin, separate log cabin, camping deck, cooking place, outdoor classroom, and campfire place harmonized with forest and clean water. On the mountainside stands Geumwonam hermit.
A legend passes down in Geumwonam. There lived a golden monkey doing harm to people and a monk caught and locked it in the rocks of Geumwonam. Geumwonsan Imhwang(135m)is 66m² artificial and natural forest of 49 families 87 tribes 147 species plants and 500 or so herbage-type and 6kinds of Korean unique plants.
2.5km long Yuancheong valley was the peace where old scholars used to study. The valley is deep and have beautiful falls and ponds :the first fall is 80m high, the second fall is 190m long and Jaun fall looks like floating white clouds on the sunset, as the wave falls down on the red limestone granite. Korea's biggest rock Munbawigabo (50m high, 150m circumstance) stands on the right valley. On the cliff behind is scribed Ma-ae Samjon Buddha's Statue(National Treasure No. 53)of the Goryeo Dynasty. At the entrance there is Seonnyeodam, nymph pond, where nymph used to bathe on full moon's day. The legend says that a woman can have a baby if she bathes here and pray her wish. Geumwonsan natural resort forest is the best resort for the whole family to enjoy the forest and valleys.
