| Description | Mt. Cheonjusan Royal Azalea Festival aims to harmonize citizens and purify their spirit through the view of red azaleas that cover Mt. Cheonjusan every spring. The festival, being held with the help of county celebrities and residents, encourages the love for nature, hometown, mother land and patriotism. Starting with wishing ritual, it holds a variety of cultural events like awarding people of good deeds, family hiking contests, singing contest, students' writing contest and painting contest. Mt. Cheonjusan(638m high) is a famous mountain in Changwon, which keeps a trace of Munjeong-gong Misu Heomok, a great scholar in the Joseon Dynasty 300 years ago. Walking through the forest of Mt. Cheonjusan and climbing up along the Dalcheondong Valley leads to Dalcheonjeong, which is known as the hut of the great Confucian Scholar Heomok in the period of King Sukjong, the Joseon Dynasty. Beside Dalcheonjeong, there is a well named Dalcheon Gucheon(Local Monument No.32), made of turtle-shaped stone by Heomok. The water in this well is pure and as cold as ice. Below it is Dalcheon Valley, a cool resting area in Summer. |
