Haeinsa

Haeinsa gis go
Haeinsa was founded in 802(the 3rd year of King Aejang, the Silla Dynasty) by monk Suneung and Ijeong. Located on the south slope of Mt. Gayasan, Haeinsa is one of Korea's Sambo Sachal.(Three Treasure Temples). Haeinsa belongs to Beopbo Sachal, enshrining Tripitaka Korea.
As the basic seminary of Korea's Avatamska Order, Haeinsa has become the spiritual hometown and the light of wisdom. Hwaeomgyeong(The Avatamska Sutra) is the essence of the Oriental Culture. The name Haeinsa came from this Sutra. It compares the world to the deep, large sea. When all of the human worries (compared to waves) stops, the real shape of the universe reflects on the sea. Therefore, Haein means 'Reflect on the sea'.
There were 70 treasures scattered in and around the temple, including world cultural heritage, National Treasure and Treasures. Seongbo Museum is recently opened, where you can see all the treasures in one place.
